AGDT Fall 2012 Teens Class Registration Information

Feel free to pass on the word about AGDT to any homeschool support groups or friends who may be interested!  AGDT is not limited to homeschooled students.  Thank you!

Hello American Girls and Families!

I know that a lot of you are anxious for more information about the Fall 2012 Teen Class - here is the scoop.

AGDT Teen Classes are for girls ages 13 and older.  Age 12 is okay if they have previously participated in at least two past AGDT Classes.

Tuesdays (5:30-7:30 PM)Doc, Doc... Goose!  This zany story is sure to be fun to perform!  It is similar to Hairum Scarum (one of the children's plays) - lots of nursery rhyme characters with fun costumes and props, and silliness all around!  There will be some opportunities for improvisation.  All characters will be very energetic and fun!  There are 8 spaces available in this class.  Here is some info about this play from the Pioneer Drama website:

Just think about those old-fashioned nursery rhymes and its easy to see why Mother Goose went to medical school and opened up a clinic in Nurseryland.  Theres no happily ever after here!  These poor nursery rhyme characters are plagued with freak accidents!  A typical morning in Dr. Gooses clinic includes a cow with a sore calf from moon-jumping, a crooked man wanting chiropractic adjustment, and a blonde juvenile delinquent who breaks into bears houses.  With the help of her assistant, Nurse Gosling, Dr. Goose even runs nutritional support groups and aerobics classes for a man who eats no fat and his opposite wife, a tea-guzzling girl named Polly and a Queen who craves tarts.  But will Dr. Zhivago from Fairy Tale Land close down the clinic?  There are three blind mice without tails who sure hope not!  Fast-paced with slapstick humor and silly situations, this imaginative weaving of nursery rhymes with modern twists offers something audiences of all ages will enjoy!

The classes will begin on August 14 and run weekly through October 2
The final week of class, the schedule will be a little different from normal - here are the details.

Tuesday, October 9 - No Class
Thursday, October 11 - 5:30-8:00 - Dress Rehearsal at the church
Friday, October 12 - 5:30-8:30 - Dress Rehearsal at the church
Saturday, October 13 - Performance

I would prefer for any student to only miss a maximum of 2 practices.  While it’s not a requirement, it would be best for everyone involved if the full class can attend the first practice on August 14.  This will be the day parts are chosen for the play.

The plays will be performed at Faith Baptist Church, and the final rehearsal (August 9) will be at the church as well.  The performance will be on Saturday, October 13, at 7:30pm.

The girls will need to arrive at the church at 2:00 pm for a final dress rehearsal on the day of their play.  We will have dinner and have time to do everyone's hair and makeup before it's showtime!

NEW: There will be a Costume Day on Saturday, September 8, from 11:00am-3:00pm. Each student will need to have a quick (15 - 20 minute) costume appointment during this timeframe. This meeting will be at another location in Lees Summit (my parent's house), where my costume collection is housed.

Classes will be held at my house in Lees Summit.  I will send directions to the enrolled students' families before the classes begin.

Pricing is as follows: $95 for one daughter, $90 each for two daughters.  The class cost covers: 26 hours of rehearsal time, one-on-one acting coaching, script, free admission for family and friends to the performance, most costume and prop expenses (with the exception of any personal items such as tights), and performance day dinner/snacks.

Registration/Payment Info (this has changed; please read):

To register for a class:

1.  Fill out the registration form – Click here.

2.  Wait for Confirmation Email.

3.  Once Confirmation Email is received, submit payment within 3 days.  Payment forms accepted are PayPal, Personal Check, or Cash.

*If you are paying by check, you will STILL fill out the registration form online.  There are no more paper registration forms!

*If I do not receive the tuition within three days of receipt of confirmation email, your registration will be bumped to the bottom of the class list (which in some cases will mean that it is no longer valid).

The full class fee is required with registration (if this is a problem, let me know and I’m sure we can work something out – it is a requirement due to problems I have had in past semesters).  Your registration and payment will hold your space in the class.  Note that the number of spaces is limited and will be filled first-come, first-serve, in the order I receive the registrations.  You can still email/call to ask about availability, but I can't hold spaces without your registration.

The registration deadline for these classes is Friday, August 3.  Click here to register for a class.
