AGDT Fall 2013 Teens Class Registration Information

Feel free to pass on the word about AGDT to any homeschool support groups or friends who may be interested!  Thank you!

Please make sure to read ALL the information below - several things have changed.

AGDT Teen Classes are for girls ages 13 and older.  Age 12 is okay if they have previously participated in at least two past AGDT Classes.

2 "Younger Student" Roles Remaining; Class is Otherwise Full.
8/26/2013
Tuesdays (5:00-7:00 PM)Ms. Scrooge.  AGDT last performed this play in Fall 2008. Ms. Scrooge is a modern twist (with an all-female cast) on the classic story A Christmas Carol. Here’s the description from the Dramatic Publishing website –

Why shouldn't an actress get a chance to portray one of the meanest roles ever created (such as Scrooge) or one of the more poignant (such as Scrooge's employee, here renamed Bobbie Cratchit)? There's also Bobbie Cratchit's heartbreakingly appealing child, Little Lisa (Tiny Tim). The script retains the original point, but it's with an entirely new twist that adds something unexpected to your theatrical Christmas festivities. Edna Scrooge has sacrificed human feelings of love and friendship to be a success. To her, Bobbie is just an impersonal office machine. Alone on Christmas Eve, the overworked Edna hallucinates—with the help of ghosts—about her grim past and even colder future. We already know what we're getting with old Ebenezer—but Ms. Scrooge is a whole new Christmas experience.

The classes will begin on September 3 (I know, very soon) and run weekly through November 5. There are 10 spaces in this class, with an additional 4 spaces for younger kids*.  The final Tuesday rehearsal on November 5 will be from 5-8pm. There will be an additional dress rehearsal from 6:30-8:30pm on Thursday,
November 7.

*The additional spaces for kids are intended for ages 7-11. They are very small parts. Each part has two characters, but not a lot of lines. Tuition for these students is at 50% the normal rate, due to the small nature of the parts.

I would prefer for any student to only miss a maximum of 2 practices.  While it’s not a requirement, it would be best for everyone involved if the full class can attend the first practice on September 3.  This will be the day parts are chosen for the play.

The plays will be performed at Faith Baptist Church, and the final rehearsal (November 7) will be at the church as well.  The performance will be on Friday, November 8 at 7:00pm.

The girls will need to arrive at the church at 2:00 pm for a final dress rehearsal on the day of their play.  We will have dinner and have time to do everyone's hair and makeup before it's showtime!

COSTUME DAY will be on Saturday, October 12 from 11:00am-2:00pm. Each student will need to have a quick costume appointment during this timeframe.  This meeting will be at another location in Lees Summit (my parent's house), where my costume collection is housed.  Attendance at Costume Day is mandatory unless arrangements are made at registration.

Classes will be held at my house in Lees Summit.  I will send directions to the enrolled students' families before the classes begin.

Pricing is as follows: $95 for one daughter, $90 each for two daughters.  The class cost covers: 26 hours of rehearsal time, one-on-one acting coaching, script, free admission for family and friends to the performance, most costume and prop expenses (with the exception of any personal items such as tights), and performance day dinner/snacks.

Registration/Payment Info (this has changed; please read):

To register for a class:

1.  Fill out the registration form – Click here.

2.  Wait for Confirmation Email.

3.  Once Confirmation Email is received, submit payment within 3 days.  Payment forms accepted are PayPal, Personal Check, or Cash.

*If you are paying by check, you will STILL fill out the registration form online.  There are no more paper registration forms!

*If I do not receive the tuition within three days of receipt of confirmation email, your registration will be bumped to the bottom of the class list (which in some cases will mean that it is no longer valid).

The full class fee is required with registration (if this is a problem, let me know and I’m sure we can work something out – it is a requirement due to problems I have had in past semesters).  Your registration and payment will hold your space in the class.  Note that the number of spaces is limited and will be filled first-come, first-serve, in the order I receive the registrations.  You can still email/call to ask about availability, but I can't hold spaces without your registration.

The registration deadline for these classes is Friday, August 30.  Click here to register for a class.
