AGDT Summer 2012 Kids Class Registration Information

Feel free to pass on the word about AGDT to any homeschool support groups or friends who may be interested!  AGDT is not limited to homeschooled students.  Thank you!

Hello American Girls and Families!

I know that a lot of you are anxious for more information about the Summer Class Schedule, so here is the scoop!

CLASS IS FULL. 5/11/12 10:42 AM. Tuesday 4:30-6:00 PM - Little House on the Prairie: Country Girls - Based on the episode of the same title from the popular Little House TV show, this play tells the story of Mary and Laura's first day (and weeks following) at the Walnut Grove School.  Character opportunities include - Laura, Mary, Ma, Miss Beadle, Nellie Olson, and Christy.  There are 5 spaces in this class, with the possibility of a non-speaking "little sister" role for a sibling (age 5-7) who is not old enough to enroll in AGDT (please indicate interest with your registration).

Class Canceled.  Tuesday 6:00-7:30 PM - Friendship & Freedom (a story about Addy) - Published by American Girl, this play is based on the book Addy Learns a Lesson by Connie Porter.  Addy's first day of school (and weeks following) are shown, as she and her friend Sarah learn some valuable lessons about the costs of friendship.  Character opportunities include - Addy, Sarah, Miss Dunn, Harriet, Mama, and Mavis.  There are 5 spaces available in this class, and additionally a small speaking "little sister" role for a sibling (age 5-7) who is not old enough to enroll in AGDT (please indicate interest with your registration).

CLASS IS FULL. 5/16/12 11:03 PM.  Thursday 1:00-2:30 PM - The Princess' Tea Party (a story about Molly) - A play from AGDT's very early days - this story is based on the book Happy Birthday, Molly! by Valerie Tripp.  Molly is beyond excited when an English refugee, Emily, comes to live with her family during World War II.  Molly expects to hear exciting stories and news about the war in England, but Emily surprises her in more ways than one.  Character opportunities include - Molly, Linda, Susan, Emily, Mom, and Mrs. Gilford.  There are 6 spaces available in this class.  Note - the character of Emily would likely have an English accent, but please don't enroll in this class because your student desperately wants to try that!  Accents, especially when spoken by children, are very hard to understand on stage and I usually prefer "normal" speech during productions!  But if you do choose this class, feel free to let your student know she may give me an example at the first rehearsal - you never know what I will say! :)

CLASS IS FULL. 5/14/12 10:33 PM. Thursday 2:30-4:00 PM - Annoying Annabelle (a story about Felicity) - An updated version of a short play of the same title by Valerie Tripp published in American Girl magazine.  Felicity and Elizabeth think of a clever way to play a trick on Annabnelle - but it turns out their trick has consequences for them, as well.  Character opportunities include - Felicity, Elizabeth, Annabelle, Mother, and Mrs. Haughty.  There are 5 spaces available in this class.

I have two other class times in mind, if there is an overwhelming demand and additional classes are needed this semester: Mondays 1:00-2:30 and Tuesdays 1:00-2:30.  If the times listed above do not work with your schedule, but one of these alternate times would - please send me an email.  These times will not be used unless all four classes above are filled first.

Tuesday Classes will begin on June 5 and run weekly through July 31.
NOTE: There will be NO CLASSES on July 17.

Thursday Classes will begin on June 14 and run weekly through August 2.

I would prefer for any student to only miss a maximum of 2 practices.  While it’s not a requirement, it would be best for everyone involved if the full class can attend the first practice on June 5 / June 14.  This will be the day we pick parts for the play.

The plays will be performed at Faith Baptist Church, and the final rehearsals (July 31 / August 2) will be at the church as well.

Tuesday Classes will be performed on Saturday, August 4, at 7:30pm.
Thursday Classes will be performed on Friday, August 3, at 7:30pm.

The girls will need to arrive at the church at 2:00 pm for a final dress rehearsal on the day of their play.  We will have dinner and have time to do everyone's hair and makeup before it's showtime!

NEW:  There will be a Costume Day on Saturday, June 30 from 10:00am-3:00pm.  If at all possible, each student will need to have a quick (15 - 20 minute) costume appointment during this timeframe.  This meeting will be at another location in Lees Summit (my parent's house), where my costume collection is housed.

Classes will be held at my house in Lees Summit.  I will send directions to the enrolled students' families before the classes begin.

Pricing is as follows: $80 for one daughter, $75 each for two daughters, $70 each for three or more daughters.  The class cost covers: 17 hours of rehearsal time, one-on-one acting coaching, script, free admission for family and friends to the performance, most costume and prop expenses (with the exception of any personal items such as tights), and performance day dinner/snacks.

Registration/Payment Info (this has changed; please read):

To register for a class:

1.  Fill out the registration form – Registration is now closed.

2.  Wait for Confirmation Email.

3.  Once Confirmation Email is received, submit payment within 3 days.  Payment forms accepted are PayPal, Personal Check, or Cash.

*If you are paying by check, you will STILL fill out the registration form online.  There are no more paper registration forms!

*If I do not receive the tuition within three days of receipt of confirmation email, your registration will be bumped to the bottom of the class list (which in some cases will mean that it is no longer valid).

The full class fee is required with registration (if this is a problem, let me know and I’m sure we can work something out – it is a requirement due to problems I have had in past semesters).  Your registration and payment will hold your space in the class.  Note that the number of spaces is limited and will be filled first-come, first-serve, in the order I receive the registrations.  You can still email/call to ask about availability, but I can't hold spaces without your registration.

The registration deadline for these classes is Friday, May 25.  Registration is now closed
