Hello American Girls and Families!
I know that a lot of you are anxious for more information about the Summer 2012 Teen Class - here is the scoop.
AGDT Teen Classes are for girls ages 13 and older. Age 12 is okay if they have previously participated in an AGDT Class.
Thursdays (5:30-7:30 PM) – Inspector Detector and the Precious Treasure. This
is a one-act play with a cast of fun and unique characters. I hope to play up the "intrigue" in this story and turn it into a very dramatic mystery/comedy. There will be some
opportunities for improvisation. All characters will be very energetic and fun! There are 9 spaces available in this class. Here is some info about this play from the drama website:
A parade of fun-filled characters is mixed with hearty action to create a
zesty search for the "precious treasure." When Pauline Precious
inherits her grandfather’s
estate, she tumbles into an evil plot filled with zany excitement! The
yucky Baroness of Braunschweiger also has her eyes set on the treasure.
Along with her bumbling helpers, she tries to snatch the treasure away
from poor Pauline. Enter our hero, Inspector Detector, who is prepared
to solve mystery after mystery (such as the haunting ghost!) and defeat
the Baroness and her unsteady duo. This entertaining family play,
filled with a spirited amount of interaction between actors and audience
(including chase scenes through the audience!), invites everyone to
help locate the hidden treasure. Where is it? And for goodness sake,
what is it?! Audiences and actors will love helping Inspector Detector
put all of the pieces together in this delightful animated puzzle.
The classes will begin on June 7 and run weekly through August 9.
I would prefer for any student to only miss a maximum of 2 practices.
While it’s not a requirement, it would be best for everyone involved if
the full class can attend the first practice on June 7. This will
be the day parts are chosen for the play.
The
plays will be performed at Faith Baptist Church, and the final
rehearsal (August 9) will be at the church as well. The performance
will be on Friday, August 10, at 7:30pm.
The
girls will need to arrive at the church at 2:00 pm for a final dress
rehearsal on the day of their play. We will have dinner and have time
to do everyone's hair and makeup before it's showtime!
NEW:
There will be a Costume Day on Saturday, June 30 from 10:00am-3:00pm.
If at all possible, each student will need to have a quick (15 - 20 minute) costume
appointment during this timeframe. This meeting will be at another
location in Lees Summit (my parent's house), where my costume collection
is housed.
Classes
will be held at my house in Lees Summit. I will send directions to the
enrolled students' families before the classes begin.
Pricing
is as follows: $95 for one daughter, $90 each for two daughters. The
class cost covers: 26 hours of rehearsal time, one-on-one acting
coaching, script, free admission for family and friends to the
performance, most costume and prop expenses (with the exception of any
personal items such as tights), and performance day dinner/snacks.
Registration/Payment Info (this has changed; please read):
To register for a class:
1. Fill out the registration form – Registration is now closed.
2. Wait for Confirmation Email.
3.
Once Confirmation Email is received, submit payment within 3 days.
Payment forms accepted are PayPal, Personal Check, or Cash.
*If
you are paying by check, you will STILL fill out the registration form
online. There are no more paper registration forms!
*If
I do not receive the tuition within three days of receipt of
confirmation email, your registration will be bumped to the bottom of
the class list (which in some cases will mean that it is no longer
valid).
The
full class fee is required with registration (if this is a problem, let
me know and I’m sure we can work something out – it is a requirement
due to problems I have had in past semesters). Your registration and
payment will hold your space in the class. Note that the number of
spaces is limited and will be filled first-come, first-serve, in the
order I receive the registrations. You can still email/call to ask
about availability, but I can't hold spaces without your registration.
The registration deadline for these classes is Friday, May 25. Registration is now closed.
